Your calorie goal is based on how much energy your body needs at rest, also called your basal metabolic rate (BMR). Fuel uses your age, sex, and height to calculate your BMR with the Mifflin-St Jeor formula. This number is then multiplied based on your activity level and personal goals.
Universal food data is sourced from the United States Department of Agriculture and was analyzed by qualified laboratories. In some cases, the information has been merged with other sources for a more complete profile. Allergen information may also be included.
Hundreds of new foods are added weekly. Existing foods are checked and updated annually, or sooner if a manufacturer makes a major change. User submissions are approved on a bi-weekly schedule.
